2026 Simplot Inspirational Teacher of the Year Finalist Laura Schiffman

We’re proud to announce that Laura Schiffman, a 2nd grade teacher at Chubbuck Elementary, has been named as a finalist for the Simplot Inspirational Teacher of the Year!

I think Ms. Schiffman is the best teacher ever! This is because she is kind, sweet, and funny! Ms. Schiffman has a lot of pets, my favorite is Elvira, she is a tarantula. In her classroom she taught us responsibility, we took turns passing out papers, telling morning jokes, and feeding the fish. Ms. Schiffman taught me to write better, we wrote at least one story everyday, it was the BEST!

The Simplot Education Council received 2,204 nominations honoring 407 standout teachers across District 25. We’ll be showcasing our finalists daily through Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, three educators—one from each level: elementary, middle, and high school—will be named this year’s Simplot Inspirational Teacher Award winners. All finalists receive a $100 award, and the top teacher in each category will take home a $500 prize from the Council.
